How did you find out about BAPA and its scholarship offerings?
A friend of mine went to a BAPA forum and shared some pictures from the event on her Instagram. From there, I explored BAPA’s social media pages, read through their website, and learned about the scholarships they offer.
How has BAPA's scholarship supported you?
This scholarship has alleviated a lot of the financial burden that tuition imposes on me. It has also given me the opportunity to attend one of BAPA’s annual forums and connect with amazing people.
What was your experience like at BAPA's 2024 Annual Forum?
At the BAPA forum, I gave a presentation on the impact that the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina had on citizens’ oral health. I highlighted the consequences and outstanding challenges that continue to affect Bosnian people in this post-conflict period.
In the months leading up to the forum, BAPA board members supported me as I prepared my presentation. They set up virtual meetings and offered peer reviews to assist in the creation of my project. A timeline was given to us with deadlines to follow, which allowed for a smooth and timely process.
Beyond presenting my research, I gained valuable insights from incredibly intelligent Bosnians at the forum. I learned a lot from fellow scholarship recipients’ presentations. I also realized how crucial it is to maintain Bosnian professional and academic communities to support future generations.
How has your experience with BAPA developed your academic and/or career goals?
My BAPA experience has been pivotal in shaping both my academic and career goals. It has boosted my confidence and inspired me to push myself further in my studies. I have also gained greater courage and feel more confident in my public speaking and presenting skills.
What advice do you have for other Bosnian students who are interested in applying for the scholarship?
Be involved in your community and studies and show BAPA how you care for your people and your academics.
